About Buggy Books

Buggy Books is the independent publishing home of children’s book author Michael Zook and illustrator/designer Linley Zook — with enthusiastic beta reading help from the Zook kids. Together, they create thoughtful, imaginative, and purposeful stories designed to be enjoyed by the whole family.

Michael’s first children’s book, Hadrian’s Purpose, was first published in 2018 and used as a tool for sharing the gospel and in preparation for the family mission trip to Taiwan. More recently, he published The Dark Park, a story centered on play, imagination, and learning to connect with children who may experience the world differently.

Growing up in a military family, Michael has had the opportunity to travel the globe. With this background, he has always looked to serve those around him. Early on, this drew him to teach and lead in the public schools and now drives him to serve in the field of aerospace, supporting our men and women in military service. An adventurer at heart, he enjoys backpacking, hiking, rock climbing, running, and traveling with his family.

With a foundation as a writer for Disney and a passion for supporting special needs students, his writing paints a world of wonder for children. Never at rest, he continues to broaden his experiences allowing him to offer great depth to the reader. Explore his purposeful stories and begin to see the world a little differently.

Linley Zook, Illustrator & Graphic Designer

As an illustrator, graphic designer, and editor, Linley’s work for Buggy Books is the culmination of decades of creative experience. Inspired by watching her father paint landscapes as a child, she acquired a lifelong passion for art. After earning a BA in Visual Communication Design, she has worked in video production, technology support, and a variety of creative services.

Adventure and travel have always been a part of her marriage to Michael. They have backpacked the Grand Canyon, explored an old salt mine in Germany, and lived on the beautiful island of Taiwan. They have two amazing children who bring so much inspiration and joy to their lives.
